How was your experience as a Forever Soles bride?

The Forever Soles team were amazing, I messaged the instagram page as soon as they posted a sneak peak of the shoes I wanted and they replied really quickly and provided all the information I needed. I pre-ordered the shoes and they arrived exactly when they said they would a few months before the wedding so I was able to wear them a little before the big day.

Which shoes did you wear for your wedding and what was your favourite thing about them?

Emerald Passion Heels! They're so eye-catching and I was able to dance in them all night long!

How did you and your husband meet?

We actually met in Grade 1 (primary school). We lived 10 minutes away from each other and were involved in a lot of the same activities at school (music, sport, academic teams) so always ended up spending time together one way or another. We've been friends as long as either of us can remember!

How long have you been together and how did he propose?

We've been together since Grade 10 (when we were 15). Lachlan "asked me out" over the phone after months of shameless flirting and we have been together ever since. Our relationship was a long time in the making, we started out as friends, grew into best friends and became almost inseparable all while profusely denying having feelings for each other. Looking back at those times I can’t believe we didn’t see what was happening sooner and I regret taking as long as we did to finally admit those feelings to each other because it was honestly the best decision I’ve ever made.

In September 2020, after 6 months of cancelled holidays and social distancing, the COVID-19 related restrictions eased across Queensland and Lachlan and I went on a much deserved holiday to FNQ. We decided to splurge on our accommodation and hired a penthouse apartment in Port Douglas where we had our own private balcony and roof top pool. On our way out to dinner, Lachlan surprised me by taking me up to the private rooftop, getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him with a wooden ring (since the real one did arrive before we left on holiday!). After numerous phone calls and emails to both the ring company and the shipping company, the real ring was finally tracked down to the depot in Mackay. When we arrived back home, we rushed out to pick it up only to find out it had actually arrived a few hours after we left on our holiday. Of course Lachlan had to redo the proposal so we set up a camera on the front lawn and he proposed again. Even though I was fully aware of what was happening, seeing the ring after so much anticipation was a great way to end the holiday.

What is the most amazing thing about your man?

Lachlan is overwhelmingly kind and generous and is constantly going out of his way for other people. This is fantastic for me because that means he often lets me relax on the couch while he does chores such as watering my (many) plants or doing the laundry.

How would you describe your wedding in one word?

Perfect (cliché I know but honestly it was everything I hoped it would be and looking back over the photos just makes me so happy!)

What is your favourite memory from your wedding?

Our first dance- neither of us are dancers but we decided to teach ourselves a choreographed dance using youtube videos. It was something we practised a few times a week in the months leading up to the wedding and it was such a great opportunity to spend some time together and laugh at how terrible we were. Finally being able to do our dance as a married couple was super special especially since we were surrounded by our friends and family who had no idea we had learnt to dance.

Where was your wedding located? What made you choose this location?

Ecostudio Fellini in Mudgeeraba (Gold Coast). We chose this location because it suited our tastes perfectly. We didn't want the perfect manicured outside wedding, we wanted to be married outdoors and incorporate our love of nature and the environment into our day. Ecostudio Fellini is such a beautiful venue who are conscious of the footprint that  large parties entail and are passionate about ensuring their venue is operating sustainably.

Who created your gorgeous gown?

My dress was from Luv Bridal but the team at Finesse Alterations Bundall added the split and the shoulder bows to make it my dream dress

You're a wife now! How does it feel to finally tie the knot?

Honestly nothing feels that different, we were together 10 years before getting married so we have just continued our lives as we usual. We do love referring to each other as Husband and Wife and take any opportunity to do so!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Our honeymoon was 2 weeks of road tripping around Tasmania. We did a lot of hiking, ate way too much food and had a few too many drinks. It was such a beautiful trip and a great way to wind down after a whole year of wedding prep/planning.

Any advice for our brides-to-be?

Don't feel like you need to make an effort to talk to every person at your wedding! We held a post wedding brunch so we could catch up with guests the next day and didn't feel stressed that we didn't get around to everyone on the night of the wedding.
