JENNIE & BILLY
It was a gorgeous, intimate celebration of love and we are lucky enough for her to share her thoughts on the big day!
Was your wedding day everything you had hoped for?
What is the most amazing thing about your man?
He is the most driven, hard-working person I have ever met. He is so determined- if there is something he wants to achieve, he makes it happen. He has accomplished so much at such a young age because of his drive and determination. He is also very devoted to family and loves making people laugh, which is what first attracted me to him.
Was it carefree and easy getting married in Hawaii or were there hurdles you had to face with organising everything?
Billy and I had been to Maui on vacation a few years earlier and completely fell in love with it. There is something so amazing about Hawaii that you really can't explain; you just have to experience it. We knew that it was the perfect place for us to get married. It can be a nerve-wracking thing to get married in another country, (we live in Ontario, Canada). There are somany small details to decide on and you don't actually get to see any of the things you are choosing or meet vendors in person. My wedding planner, Gabriella from Platinum Weddings & Events, was absolutely amazing. She made the process easy and stress-free. Gabriella arranged everything for us so that we just had to show up and enjoy our day.
What was your aisle song?
We had an awesome ukelele player at our ceremony (Erland Pahukoa). I chose a few songs for him to play during the ceremony, many of which were Bob Marley songs. As I was walking down the beach toward Billy, he played "Waiting in Vain" by Bob Marley.
Tell us more about that amazing dress!
I had pinned this dress on Pinterest years ago. When we decided we were going to get married in Hawaii, I knew it was the perfect dress- totally my style. I had to track down where it was from and found that it was from Shareen Vintage. It is an amazing vintage & bridal boutique with a location in LA and one in NYC. Since I could not get to either of those locations, I emailed the owner and designer, Shareen Mitchell. Shareen called me and made the exact dress I wanted fit to my measurements, then shipped it to Canada. I was so happy with it. It fit so perfectly and was even more beautiful in person than in the photo.
How was your experience as a Forever Soles bride?
Any funny moments?
We had a private dinner set up on the lawn at our resort right beside the ocean. Later in the evening after dinner, the sprinklers came on unexpectedly and we all had to jump up from the table to avoid the spray until they were able to get someone from the resort to turn them off. It was one of those things that was annoying at the time but pretty funny afterwards.
