DARBIE WEARS OUR VOW BOOTS

Photography by David Low of Wedding Shots Photography

How was your experience as a Forever Soles bride? Which shoes did you wear for your wedding?

The Vow Boots were absolutely amazing. As soon as I ordered them, within a few days, I received them without any issues. I didn't complain once about my feet and I'd buy your boots if they came in all different colours. They went perfectly with my dress and were perfect for my winter wedding.

How did you and your husband meet?

My husband and I are not quite sure when we met. However, we most definitely remember that we met through mutual friends around 14-15 years ago on New Year's eve.

How long have you been together and how did he propose?

On December 16th, this year would be 12 years. The proposal was at a beautiful Alpaca farm (one of my favourite animals). He got down on one knee and asked. It was just beautiful.

What is the most amazing thing about your man?

That he brings me food when I'm hungry! He's caring, he loves me through struggles and successes. He's a hard-working man with so much love to give.

How would you describe your wedding in one word?

Magical

What is your favourite memory from your wedding?

My favourite part was the moment the fireworks came on during our first dance. It was just so magical and beautiful.

Where was your wedding located? What made you choose this location?

Nathania Springs Receptions. My husband and I chose this venue because, one, 90% of our guests smoked, and the area was literally right outside the doors of the reception. The second reason was the way the forest went around the venue, and it was just beautiful. The third reason was the chapel and reception were absolutely stunning, and the layout was practical to our needs. E.g., every single guest could see the bridal table without another guest's head or centerpieces in the way.

You're a wife now! How does it feel to finally tie the knot?

As people keep saying to me, "FINALLY" after almost 12 years. However, it was partially my fault since I was studying at the time.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We are planning to go to Japan in Cherry Blossom season! We also want to go to Nintendo Land and Owl Cafe.

Any advice for our brides-to-be?

Enjoy your day. If there are dramas, don't stress. Just compromise.

At 6 am I was up looking through acres of paddocks, trying to find my bridesmaids jewellery I gave her. I gave it to her the day before, and we ran to feed and pat highland cows, so she thought she had it in her pocket and dropped it.

Turns out, 15 minutes before we left, it was in her shoe box!

The boys forgot to wear their floral buttonholes.

My bridesmaids stood on the back of my train and ripped the part that lifts it up, so I was running around holding my dress, and people were trying not to step on it.

Even though everything was on time, we still ran so late! Missed out on videos and shoots prior to heading to the venue.

I was so nervous that I had to go back to kiss my dad when he gave me away.

There's so much more I could say, but I just wanted to tell you all that regardless of the hiccups on the day, it's all worth it. Enjoy your day, and just have a blast.

For your wedding, honestly, you do what you want to do. I personally wanted my own theme for the wedding because I didn't want anything to be the same as anyone else. I went to many different suppliers/vendors to share the business and love. They all collaborated together with perfection. I highly suggest everyone does the same. Be creative, enjoy the planning, and decorate it how you want it. If you have a budget, achieving exactly what you want is still possible. I know because my husband and I did it. If you feel you can't get something because you can't justify it, who cares? You do what you want because it's your day! Love it and enjoy it.
