Michelle & Colin
How did you meet your husband, Colin?
Colin and I met through the app bumble! It’s the one where the girl has to say hi first if you match. Colin had a friendly, happy smile that made me swipe right.
After a night out with the girls I was deciding whether or not to go to our first catch-up as I was a little hungover, but at breakfast the convinced me to go. Colin texted me before our date to make sure we were catching up but to also say that he was also a bit hungover as he had been to a wedding the night before! So we went and met at Brisbane brewing co and had a beer. The date was going well until Colin got the beer sweats and left a little earlier than I thought he would, so I thought he didn’t like me (hahaha). But he texted not long after and we organised a second date and the rest is history!
What is the most amazing thing about your man?
The most amazing thing about Colin is that he is such a positive happy person and always looks after me and makes me smile and laugh even when I am having a long day.
How long have you been together and how did he propose?
We have been together for over three years and when Colin proposed we had been together for two years.
We went to Noosa for the weekend to stay at a friend’s holiday house on the river. We drove up on a Friday night after work, so we got McDonald’s on the way. By the time we got there it was late, but because it was our anniversary we opened sparkling wine and Tim Tams. I was sitting on the deck and while I was eating and drinking Col said he had added a page to our memories book I made. I was looking through the book and on the last page there was a picture of us saying ‘And then there was Noosa for our second anniversary’ and on the page next to it there was a picture saying ‘will you marry me’ and I looked up and Col was down on one knee with a ring! I said yes of course
What was it like planning your wedding?
It was easy and fun! As part of my job I do events for work so we started with the big things first like ceremony and venue location, celebrant, florist and photographer. Then we went overseas for four weeks so just enjoyed that and didn’t plan anything else until we were back. We also had some lovely family and friends help with things too.
What is your favourite memory from your wedding?
Our wedding was amazing! There are so many wonderful memories that we got to make with all our family and friends, it’s just awesome having all your favourite people all in one place, especially because we had people travel to celebrate with us. One memory that was fun though was catching a boat with our bridesmaids and groomsmen to the reception, it was nice just having a sparkling wine and watching the sunset and just chilling for fifteen minutes. And then we turned up to the reception with everyone cheering as we arrived, it was awesome seeing everyone there knowing we were going to have a fun party!
Where was your wedding located? What made you choose this location?
Our wedding was located in Noosa because that’s our happy place, it’s where we went away for weekends and where we got engaged. Our ceremony was at the start of the Noosa Woods overlooking the beach and our Reception was at Ricky’s. Both places are absolutely stunning! Ricky’s especially at sunset which is what we wanted to share with our guests as we had enjoyed that sunset many times on the river.
Any advice for other brides-to-be?
My advice would be to think about your favourite things and list them in order of priority, for example Colin and I love good food and wine so the reception venue was important, that was on the top of the list and then we just went down the list from there.
Who created your gorgeous gown?
I found my dress at Babushka Ballerina in Brisbane. It was a Daisy Brides dress which was made in New Zealand. I loved my dress because it was beautiful and was also really comfortable and easy to dance in!
You're a wife now! How does it feel to finally tie the knot?
It’s awesome, we were already a team, but it was nice to celebrate that with all our friends and family. We are just an even stronger team now.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We stayed in Noosa for a few days after the wedding to spend time with our family and friends who travelled there and then we went to Queenstown in New Zealand because the city is just beautiful, there’s some good day trips, it’s easy to fly to and the food and wine is so good! It’s just a great place to relax and spoil yourself.
How was your experience as a Forever Soles bride?
My experience with Forever Soles was fantastic! I bought my shoes first and after that I received an email thanking me for my purchase, which was such a lovely email to get. I was really happy with the quick mail out and customer service so I bought my wedding clutch from Forever Soles too, which I love just as much as my shoes! My shoes were so comfortable, and they really did get a good workout from walking through the woods, to the beach and then dancing heaps at the reception! They are so comfortable and definitely lasted the distance.
Michelle wore the Summer Espadrilles on her wedding day.
