How was your experience as a Forever Soles bride?

My experience was wonderful! I first came across a pair of Forever Soles shoes on Etsy, and then when I visited the website, I was immediately struck by how unique the shoes are. I believe in investing in quality items, and I love supporting small (and women-owned!) businesses so it was an easy choice for me. Though I was nervous about ordering shoes online (especially having them shipped across the world), the Forever Soles team was gracious in helping me choose the right size and fit for my wedding day.

Which shoes did you wear for your wedding? What was your favourite thing about your shoes?

I wore the Passion Heels in Ivory - literally the most beautiful shoes! My favourite thing about the shoes is just how beautiful and elegant they are. I felt like the most stunning bride wearing them, and they were extremely comfortable to wear throughout my day.

How did you and your husband meet?

My husband and I met through a dating app, and we were both in our late twenties at the time. My first message to him was “Favourite place to get tacos?” and it’s been the greatest adventure ever since.

How long have you been together and how did he propose?

We’ve been together almost two years. People had always told me, “When you know, you know,” but I never understood what this meant until I met EJ. It was clear to us from very early on that we wanted to spend our lives together. He proposed eight months after we met, during a photoshoot he had planned as an early birthday gift to me.

What is the most amazing thing about your man?

Gosh, there are too many things to name! I love how thoughtful EJ is, and how much he loves our little family (no kids quite yet, but our two dogs mean the world to us). His sense of humor cracks me up, and he just makes life so much sweeter and full.

How would you describe your wedding in one word?

JOY

What is your favourite memory from your wedding?

At the end of the night, we had a private last dance before our exit. We changed into sweatsuits and custom Mr. and Mrs. Nike shoes and the moment just felt like us. It was so special to have that last dance with just the two of us. We were exhausted but filled with so much joy at how perfect the day had been.

Where was your wedding located? What made you choose this location?

Our wedding was located at a venue called Hoyt Hallow about half an hour away from the city where we live. We initially wanted to get married somewhere downtown in the midst of our city, but ultimately decided on our venue because of the flexibility and great accommodations that they offered. Though different from what we thought we wanted, the day turned out to be more than we could have hoped for, and we were so happy.

Who created your gorgeous gown?

The Something Blue Shoppe in Hartselle, AL. This was the first dress shop I went to, and my wedding dress was actually the first dress I tried on that day in the store. I usually struggle to make decisions, and my wedding dress was so different from what I thought I would want, but I could not have been happier with my choice.

You're a wife now! How does it feel to finally tie the knot?

It’s truly an answered prayer! I’m so thankful for our story - how we met and our journey of coming to love one another. I believe that marriage is a gift from God, and I am grateful for the privilege of walking alongside my husband for the rest of our time here on this earth.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Italy! We spent half of our time in Rome and the other half in Florence eating all the pizza and pasta and enjoying the best wine. It was incredible to experience the rich history of these two places and to have such an amazing opportunity to travel overseas together.

Any advice for our brides-to-be?

Don’t get lost in the season of engagement and wedding planning. Your wedding day, though beautiful and so special, is just one day in the span of the rest of your lives together. Talk about your expectations and how they might differ, and identify ways to continue growing in love together. Let your engagement season be a time when you begin to plan and dream together for the future, and make sure you’re building a solid foundation for your marriage.
