Jorey & Graham

Where did you meet you husband, Graham?

Graham and I met almost 4 years at a new and popular spot in town called 1933. That day was perfectly meant to be because Graham had interest in me almost a year prior of even meeting. He was a substitute at the junior high I worked at and when he saw me walking around campus he asked his friend there who I was. She told him I was unfortunately dating someone at the time, respectfully he didn’t pursue me. My friend told me of that conversation but I never knew what he looked like or talked to him until almost a year later. It was the last Friday of the summer, I was newly single and the same colleague and I decided to go out. Shortly after arriving she bumps into someone she knows, she introduces him to me, and it was Graham. My heart immediately sank, he was so handsome and killed me right away with his smile. We were inseparable that night, we talked and danced the night away. Immediately we knew each other was the one, and it has been an amazing few years since.

What do you love most about your husband?

There are two things I love most about my husband. One is that he is so fun and easy going, he gets along so well with everyone and he’s always up to have a good time. He definitely lives up to his nickname Good time Graham. Never a dull moment with him. Second, is his strength. Right now he is currently going through a relapse of Hodgkins lymphoma which he fought and beat two years ago. He was a champ last time and took cancer by the horns and now that it’s back again hurts my heart for him so much. He’s so strong through and is diligent about beating it again. I am so proud of him and always will be.

We actually got married privately two years ago with his first diagnosis. It was just us with our closest family in my mom’s backyard, we wanted to get married before he started his treatments so my mom threw together a beautiful evening with such short notice. It was the most intimate wedding we could ask for. As time went on we were planning our big celebration with all our friends and family. It was the celebration year, we were done with cancer and it was our big wedding year and honeymoon. A week before the wedding we found out Graham’s cancer had returned and that treatment would start the Monday after our wedding. It was a lot to take in. We only were able to tell some family and friends before hand because it was hard to break the news right before such a special day. We agreed to enjoy our weekend and not let this hang over us, but that also put into perspective how meaningful and beautiful this day was to us.

We had our wedding on 2.21.2020 at Galway Downs in Temecula, California. This venue is a gorgeous and secluded wedding and equestrian site in the midst of multiple wineries. Our ceremony was held under a large eucalyptus tree surrounded by ponds, trees and so much greenery. The reception was held in the refurbished modern barn which was perfect for our modern bohemian themed wedding.

What was your aisle song?

I kept quite a secret from almost everyone except my parents and husband and was brought in by horse and carriage. Upon my arrival, the song Can’t Help Falling In Love by Kina Grannis played. It timed out so perfectly that as I arrived at the end of the aisle I kissed my dad and step dad good bye, as they walked around the outside of the guests I walked by myself down the rest of the aisle to part of the song that gives you goosebumps. (For those who have seen Crazy Rich Asians know that part). I met them at the front as they gave me away to Graham. It was so magical and there wasn’t a dry eye there at that time.

How was your experience as a Forever Soles bride?

I am so happy that I am a Forever Soles Bride. I was very particular about the look I wanted for my wedding day and once I found the Daydreamer Sandal, I knew those would complete the look. Not only were they stunning but the quality of them was amazing. I wasn’t having to retie them at all and since they were a small heel I was comfortable in them for so much longer than I expected. I honestly thought I was going to have to change shoes as the reception started because my feet ache so easily but I was in them for almost the entire night!
