Kate & Matt

How did you meet?

We met on Tinder back in 2015. Matt was my first and only Tinder date. Matt had been on Tinder for some time and had kissed a few ‘frogs’ as he likes to joke. After a week of messaging each we had our first date on Valentine’s Day and have been together ever since.

What is the most amazing thing about your man?

I love how caring and charismatic he is. I also love that he has totally embraced the pug life and my out of this world love for pugs! I never imagined I could end up with someone as smart, charming, funny, handsome and loving as Matt. I feel super lucky.

Describe your wedding in one word:

Perfect! The day was absolute perfection.

Despite the curve ball COVID-19 brought to the year, we were lucky to have our wedding go as planned. We were blessed with amazing weather and for our interstate and overseas guests who weren’t able to make it to Perth due to border restrictions, we were able to Zoom our ceremony and speeches. Having our friends and family with us on the day to celebrate our marriage, to celebrate togetherness and have a much-needed party, was all we could ask for.

What is your favourite memory from your wedding?

Gosh, narrowing it down to one memory is a tough call. My favourite memory would be walking down the aisle and finally getting to hold Matt’s hands at the alter and give him the biggest smile. Matt also agrees and says that seeing me walk down the aisle and meet him at the alter was his favourite too. Another standout memory was Matt surprising everyone by playing the piano and singing our favourite Billy Joel song, ‘Just the way you are’. It brought some of our guests to tears and I couldn’t wipe the smile of my face.

Where was your wedding located? What made you choose this location?

We had our wedding at the Royal Perth Yacht Club in Crawley. We loved that we could have both the ceremony and reception in one place and that our three pugs could also be a part of our ceremony too. The yacht club is right on the Swan River overlooking the Perth city skyline and on the day the view was stunning.

Who created your gorgeous gown?

The very talented Sandra and Birgitta at Elvi Design created my gorgeous two-piece wedding outfit. The organza top perfectly matched my theme of peonies in my bouquet. The skirt was a dream to walk in, dance in and also eat in. I adored the absolute beauty, elegance and simplicity of the outfit. The dramatic veil was also a winner.

You're a wife now! How does it feel to finally tie the knot?

I didn’t think getting married would have changed anything in particular but I definitely feel a deeper appreciation and love for Matt. I think it’s the idea that we have chosen each other to be the person you always want to be with, discover new things with and be there for one another. There’s something special about it that feels really lovely.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We went to Margaret River and stayed for a week, which was lovely. It was great to have some downtime to relax and unwind. We visited some of our favourite wineries and breweries and even had time to enjoy a couple’s day spa.

How was your experience as a Forever Soles bride?

When I found those ‘Passion’ heels I knew I had to have them. Ordering them was super easy and when they arrived I couldn’t wait to try them on. I loved that they were something a little different and not your traditional style of bridal shoe. They were a dream to walk in and dance in all night. I had so many compliments from our guests about how gorgeous they were. Passion Heels by Forever Soles
