Kelsey & Oli
How did you meet?
It is actually quite a funny/cringe story ha ha! As we both grew up in Byron Bay we had plenty of mutual friends. I was still in high school and one night I was out in town with a group of friends. We were being stupid teenagers and someone slapped my hand. Out of nowhere Oli came and poured his Smirnoff double black over my stinging hand and we exchanged numbers, the rest is history. We are both shy in natural which makes this story so funny.
How long have you been together and how did he propose?
11 years. We headed around the headland at Broken Head to one of the little hidden coves which is our favourite spot for a picnic. After we had the picnic all set up he proposed. Like so many others we had to postpone our wedding six weeks out from the date for another year due to Covid.
What is the most amazing thing about your man?
I love how caring and loving he is. Oli is always there for his friends and family, he never does the things he does expecting a favour in return.
How would you describe your wedding in one word?
Dreamy
What is your favourite memory from your wedding?
Ahh it’s so hard to choose. Probably walking down the aisle seeing all our loved ones in the one place and then seeing Oli with the biggest smile on his face. Also when we were both put on our friends shoulders while Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” played on the dance floor. There isn’t one thing I would have changed. There was so much anticipation and excitement from everyone after the year everyone had in 2020. It was the perfect celebration.
Where was your wedding located? What made you choose this location?
Ewingsdale Hall, Byron Bay. I had always loved the Ewingsdale Hall so it was an easy pick. The hall itself is so effortlessly beautiful and an extremely affordable venue for Byron Bay.
Any advice for our brides-to-be?
It doesn’t matter how many times people told me this but the day will absolutely fly by so soak it all in. I got amazing advice from a friend which I would recommend other brides do. During the night take a moment with your partner, grab a drink and step into a dark corner where no one sees you and take it all in together. Have 5 minutes to look at all your friends and family enjoying the best day ever!
Who created your gorgeous gown?
You're a wife now! How does it feel to finally tie the knot?
It feels great! I just wish we could re live the wedding over and over again.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Tasmania! We left it super last minute as it’s so hard to lock in travel with different restrictions. It was the most perfect honeymoon destination even in the cold. We were able to rug up and enjoy great wine.
How was your experience as a Forever Soles bride?
I felt so comfortable the whole night in Forever Soles. Dancing was an essential part of my wedding and I actually didn’t have to change shoes!
