Melissa & Joseph

What’s your husband's name and how did you meet?

Joseph and I met at the Hennessy Rooftop bar at the Mayfair Hotel in Adelaide on Christmas Eve of 2016. I was with some work friends enjoying some festive cocktails over a cheese fondue. Joseph was also at the bar with some of his friends, one of which yelled out ‘who’s eating cheese toasties’, and then I yelled back ‘us’! From here our groups starting chatting and hung out together for the remainder of the night. Joseph and I started chatting and he asked for my number throughout the night.  We have been inseparable since

How long have you been together and how did he propose?

4 years

Joseph proposed in the most memorable way.  We are beach lovers, so he wanted a setting that was meaningful.  He told me we were meeting some friends for breakfast near the Seacliff boardwalk, which we do all the time so nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Once we arrived, he said our friends were running late so let’s take the opportunity to go for a scenic beach walk. As we were walking along we came across a beautiful boho tepee setup in a hidden corner of the boardwalk. Joseph encouraged me to go inside and check it out with him.  Once we were standing instead this stunning tepee, surrounded by flowers, champagne, a beautiful romantic platter of strawberries and chocolate, I said to Joseph ‘we need to leave.  This is obviously for someone else’, and he responded ‘it’s for us’. From his words my eyes filled with the happiest tears as Joseph stood in front of me saying the most beautiful words and then dropped down to his knee. I have never felt so close to someone before.

Joseph being his romantic self, had more planned… after we enjoyed the sea view from instead the tepee sipping our champagne. We started to walk back to our car when he said, ‘when we get home you need to pack a bag’.  To my surprise, he took me back to where it all started; he had a room booked at the Mayfair Hotel, where we first met at the Hennessy Rooftop bar.  After a day of surprises and celebrations, we were enjoying a champagne overlooking the Adelaide CBD at the Hennessey Bar when Joseph asked me to turn around and behind us were both our immediate families.  Tears filled my eyes again. The final surprise, our families meeting us as Joseph had booked out the entire restaurant at the Mayfair Hotel for an intimate engagement dinner.

What is the most amazing thing about your man?

I couldn’t possibly pick one.  Joseph is so thoughtful; I admire how he has the ability to see the best in everyone and in every situation.  Everyday is filled with love and plenty of laughter.  He always puts me first and my heart is so safe with him

How would you describe your wedding in one word?

Organic.

What is your favourite memory from your wedding?

Our first look. I loved spending the day with Joseph and our bridal party. It was intimate, fun and made all my nerves go away. Joseph knows how to centre me, and help me live in the moment which is what I needed on our wedding day.

Where was your wedding located? What made you choose this location?

Sunnybrae Regency Park SA. I come from a large European background so it was important to us, to choose a venue that can cater for large numbers, especially when it comes to the food. Our families can eat!

Any advice for our brides-to-be?

Try to take a moment in the day for you and your partner to sit back and take it all in. Also, if you are not a traditional person, I highly recommend to consider doing a first look. It is really nice to have that moment together in the day with no one around

Who created your gorgeous gown?

Made With Love. I wore their design Riley Luxe. My dress came with wings which I wore for my first look and bridal photos. Then changed into an overskirt and veil for the ceremony. It was nice to accessorise my dress with these flowy options without being too expensive

You're a wife now! How does it feel to finally tie the knot?

Amazing. We couldn’t be happier.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Port Douglas

How was your experience as a Forever Soles bride?

Easy! I loved my shoes, they were so comfy but still stylish, the best of both worlds.
