Sammi & Matt

What’s your husband's name and how did you meet?

I met my husband Matt on a night out in our home town when I was a fresh faced 18 year old. My girlfriend was adamant I needed to come outside and meet him. Turns out she was right!

How long have you been together and how did he propose?

Matt took me completely by surprise and proposed at sunset on the beach of Gili Air Island. We have been together now for 9 wonderful years.

What is the most amazing thing about your man?

Definitely his sense of humour and the way he is always dancing around and trying to make me laugh! You can tell he was the class clown as a kid.

How would you describe your wedding in one word?

Relaxed

What is your favourite memory from your wedding?

Our vows. We chose to write our own vows and Matt’s first line was “I don’t quite understand the planets & the stars but something has definitely aligned” which was so crazy because the last line of mine was “my love, it is a long time from here to the stars so let us travel the rest as one”. As soon as he spoke those first words I thought to myself YES! This is why I’m marrying this man!

Where was your wedding located? What made you choose this location?

The Tree Church, Ohaupo. It is the most enchanting place I have ever been. As soon as we walked through the gate we both knew it was meant to be!

Any advice for our brides-to-be?

Do what feels right for you and your beloved! If you plan a day that is authentic and stays true to what you have always envisioned then everyone will love it and it will be the best day ever!

Who created your gorgeous gown?

I wore the incredible Soraya Gown by Rue de Seine

You're a wife now! How does it feel to finally tie the knot?

It feels so nice to finally have the same last name as our beautiful kiddies!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We didn’t have an official honeymoon but we spent the next couple of weeks soaking up the summer sun with our friends and family.

How was your experience as a Forever Soles bride?

Since the day we got engaged I had always wanted to wear Forever Soles - my best friend Danielle can attest to this! I couldn’t believe it when I was trying on my dress at the Rue de Seine flagship store because they had Forever Soles heels in the changing rooms - it was just meant to be!

Angie is so amazing and helpful - my original heels were too small and I had to return them. She made sure my new heels were sent across the ditch straight away as I was only two weeks out from our wedding day!

What does the future hold for you?

I was so inspired by planning our own wedding that I decided it was a path that I wanted to continue down - so Blooms & Blue was born! I am now a registered Wedding Celebrant and I also offer my services as an On the Day Coordinator and Bridal Stylist.

I have been loving the wedding industry so far. Meeting all my amazing couples and helping bring their dream weddings to life is so rewarding.

My hope is to one day open a Bridal Boutique tailored to suit all the bohemian luxe babes out there! Watch this space x
