How was your experience as a Forever Soles bride?
Excellent! I searched high and low for velvet shoes in a bold colour to compliment our décor and found just what I was looking for at Forever Soles!
Which shoes did you wear for your wedding?
What was your favourite thing about your shoes?
Alastair & I coordinated our shoes to be the "pièce de résistance" of our wedding look! Mine from Forever Soles, his from John Fluevog. We went for deep ruby tones on the shoes and had our florist include some in the bouquet as well! Both of our shoes were the talk of the town that day and for weeks to follow!
How did you and your husband meet?
We met working together part time while in college. We were coworkers and friends for a long time before starting our romance but even back then he had "pretend" proposed to me at work one day and I said yes.
How long have you been together and how did he propose?
We've been together 3 years now.
About 8 months into our romance, he did it for real! We were taking self portraits, one evening, on the rooftop of my Montréal apartment. And when we posed for the next photo, he got down on one knee.
What is the most amazing thing about your man?
He's a classic gentleman. He is patient, kind, humble and even a romantic. His love for me is greater than I can even fathom and the way that he looks at me every day is just as it was the first time he ever laid eyes on me.
How would you describe your wedding in one word?
"TIMELESS"
We wanted to transport our guests to a place that felt aside from the present day. We sourced mismatched antique furniture for seating, we played music from the 1920s-1960s, we replaced cell phones with Polaroid cameras and we threw ourselves the most incredible vintage garden party - one for the ages!
What is your favourite memory from your wedding?
OUR HANDWRITTEN VOWS
This was the most intimate and sentimental part of our day. His words ensured that there wasn't a dry eye in sight. Mine, brought everyone into full blown tears. This includes ourselves, our photographer and two videographers. They also cried while editing our video and we all did again when watching it.
Where was your wedding located? What made you choose this location?
London, Ontario, Canada
Our wedding occurred in the backyard of the groom's family home. It backs on to a conservation area and is lush with flora & fauna in the summertime. First and foremost, we wanted to get married outdoors. Amidst the pandemic, we wanted to have a small private event. Butterflies fluttered around us through our ceremony, birds sang and we were even visited by a doe and her baby deer. It was a standard fairytale!
Who created your gorgeous gown?
The dress is from Asos and fit our aesthetic perfectly!
You're a wife now! How does it feel to finally tie the knot?
We actually did a hand-fasting ceremony and tied a real knot on our wedding day. It's framed in our living room. - It feels amazing to wake up and call him my husband, to wear our rings, and to live out our vows daily. There's nothing better than marrying your best friend!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We are waiting for the pandemic to truly end before setting off on our voyage. Our original plans were to go backpacking through South East Asia.
Any advice for our brides-to-be?
QUALITY OVER QUANTITY!
We were joined by 17 of our closest people on our wedding day, we were able to spend quality time with each of them.
We served a variety of high quality hors d'oeuvres, circulating throughout the evening rather than mass produced plated meals.
We created an outdoor lounge set up with antique chairs, settees and even a 10' long sofa. Much better for mingling than assigned seating, more aesthetic than round tables, and more comfortable than metal chairs.
We asked that everyone turn off their phones for the evening, offering Polaroid cameras in their place. We also had full coverage of the wedding by our our talented photographer and videographers!!!
